Grow your own Super Food!! "Tree of Life" malunggay, Moringa oleifera. One of the world's most nutritious foods...

Easy to grow as an annual in the north or south as a perennial. Contains 46 antioxidants, 18 amino acids & is a complete protein. This is a very special dwarf variety from India. Unlike other varieties of moringa, this tree will remain short and is very well suited to container growing, which makes growing it in the U.S. much easier. Moringa is native to the tropics and the subtropics; container growing will allow you to bring your tree inside for the winter. This plant is prized for its very high-protein leaves, its rich concentration of minerals and vitamins, and its heavy load of anti-oxidants! Leaves, blooms, seeds, and immature seed pods, called “drumsticks”, are edible; seeds are a source of high-quality oil.

The Drumstick Tree tolerates poor soil. It is fast-growing. It is considered one of the world's most useful trees because almost every part of the tree can be used.
The Phantom Miracle Tree (Moringa oleifera) gets its name from the fact that when older it forms an enlarged base and can withstand periods of drought by dropping its leaves. When this happens it looks like a "Phantom". Others call it a Miracle Tree because all parts of the plant can be eaten!

Moringa is an important food source in some parts of the world. Because it can be grown cheaply and easily, and the leaves retain lots of vitamins and minerals when dried, moringa is used in India and Africa in feeding programs to fight malnutrition. The immature green pods (drumsticks) are prepared similarly to green beans, while the seeds are removed from more mature pods and cooked like peas or roasted like nuts. The leaves are cooked and used like spinach, and they are also dried and powdered for use as a condiment.
