Popular in Paris in the 1880s, and introduced to the U.S. in 1883, this remarkable French heirloom, also known as 'Rouge Vif d'Étampes' ('vivid red of Étampes"), is deeply ridged, 12"–24" across, and weighs 15–20 pounds. It's a terrific decoration whether carved or not. Moderately sweet; perfect for baking and canning. The inspiration for the carriage in the charming fairy tale, your kids will be delighted to grow Cinderella's coach. Plants tolerate heat and humidity.

The Cinderella is an excellent pumpkin for canning or baking pies and pumpkin bread as it has a great eating quality! This pumpkin variety is an heirloom variety from France that was selected out of the older variety, Rouge vif d'Etampes. Cinderella has deep ridges and exceptional flatening, making it a beautiful decoration for Halloween and other other fall festivities. This variety's vines are very productive with pumpkins that have grooved, thick walls.

They are really fun to grow. They can get pretty big and have a beautiful deep orange color when ripe. The shape is interesting too. Have one on the vine now that's about a foot wide. Once the pumpkin starts growing, they grow fast.

This traditional ornament of the autumn harvest is good for much more than jack-o-lanterns and pies. High in fiber and essential minerals, their colorful orange flesh signifies an abundance of the antioxidant beta-carotene.

Culture • Pumpkins require uniform irrigation totaling 15-20 inches of water during the growing season • Bee attractant flowers or beehives will help yields — misshapen or non-developing fruit is often the result of poor pollination

Direct Sowing • Plant after frost danger when soil warms to 65°F • Work in a shovelful of compost and 1/2 cup TSC's Complete fertilizer into hill • Keep soil evenly moist but not wet as too much moisture causes the seed to rot • Bush varieties: sow 3-4 feet apart • Vining varieties: sow 4-5 feet apart

Transplanting • Start indoors 3-4 weeks prior to the anticipated transplant date in 4-inch pots • Work in a shovelful of compost and 1/2 cup TSC's Complete fertilizer into the hill • Transplant carefully as to not disturb roots

Harvest & Storage • Leave on vine until fully mature, rinds should be firm • Pumpkins can tolerate a light frost, but must be protected from a hard frost • Dry gourds: Wash gently in a solution of 10 parts water and 1 part bleach, carefully removing all dirt, then store in a warm, dry location • Store at 55-70°F and 70% relative humidity
