Kefir is a fermented and cultured beverage. As far as taste goes, it tastes a lot like a yogurt drink. What makes Kefir so great to have on hand is that it is nutrient-dense. It has plenty of B vitamins, potassium, calcium, and protein. Not to mention, like yogurt, probiotics are important. They help improve the healthy bacteria ratio in your gastrointestinal tract. While you can use dairy milk to produce Kefir, you can also choose non-dairy options like coconut milk which makes a lovely smooth Kefir.

Most of the time, Kefir will ferment at room temperature. However, in the winter, it may be too cold for it to heat properly. The milk produced is creamy and tart but where Kefir is different is that it is a lot thinner than yogurt. So, what do you need to make the best Kefir? Kefir grains are the key. We cultivate our own Kefir grains using organic milk (homogenized). It's a daily ordeal, feeding them milk so they grow and multiply. They also grow larger through multiple feedings.'

Make Kefir and Heal Your Gut Naturally. From Kefir, With Love

Benefits:

TOP REASONS TO ENJOY KEFIR: PROBIOTICS: Probiotics are live microorganisms that may provide health benefits when consumed in adequate amounts. The benefits of these good bacteria may include supporting immunity and a healthy digestive system. IMMUNITY: The probiotics in kefir may help support a healthy gut, where 70-80 percent of the cells that make up the immune system are located. Kefir contains a crazy amount of different probiotics – anywhere between 10 and 34 types compared to yogurt’s mere 2 to 7. Among those beneficial bacteria strains, one is found only and exclusively in Kefir: Lactobacillus Kefir, which helps defend the body from harmful bacteria like salmonella and E. Coli. In addition, this super fermented food also contains Kefiran, another compound found only in Kefir. This is a powerful ally against candida overgrowth and one of the main reasons why I started making it at home on a regular basis. HEALTHY WEIGHT: Kefir is high in protein, which increases satiety and reduces hunger cravings throughout the day. SKIN: Kefir contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), a popular ingredient in skincare products. DIGESTION: The live and active probiotic cultures found in kefir may help support digestion. Supports Healthy Digestion and fights Dysbiosis. Because it’s loaded with probiotics, Kefir helps restore gut flora balance and fights against gastrointestinal diseases like IBS, Crohn’s, and ulcers. PROTEIN: An 8 oz serving of low-fat kefir contains 11 grams of natural protein. LACTOSE DIGESTION: Our unique fermentation process and specific kefir cultures ensure Kefir is up to 99 percent lactose-free and suitable for most people who are lactose intolerant. Natural remedy for Gastritis and colitis. Supports Digestion and Combats IBS(Irritable Bowel Syndrome) MOOD: Kefir contains tryptophan, the amino acid that helps raise the levels of serotonin in your brain. BONE DENSITY: A serving of Lifeway kefir provides 30 percent of your daily calcium needs. Supports Bone Strength. Besides containing compounds that fight osteoporosis, Kefir contains vitamin K2. This is the new “it” vitamin, which improves calcium distribution and absorption. Avoid bacterial infections Regulate the level of cholesterol in your body Reduces abdominal inflammation Improves Allergies and Heals Skin Potentially Fights Cancer

KEFIR VS. YOGURT Here are a few important differences between these two probiotic foods:

Milk Kefir has many health benefits and is one of the richest sources of probiotics! Kefir is a mesophilic culture, which means that fermentation happens at room temperature. Usually, Yogurt culture is thermophilic, so fermentation requires a raised temperature of 100 – 110 F. This detail alone makes Kefir an easier process than Yogurt. Once activated, Kefir grains can be reused indefinitely. They will actually grow and multiply to the point that I have to separate them into different batches and give some away to friends and family. Yogurt starters can also be reusable. In which case, after making the first batch of yogurt, it’s possible to culture new fresh milk by mixing in some of the previous batches. So, don’t forget to save some before finishing the whole batch, or you’ll have to use and activate a new starter packet next time you want to make yogurt. And finally, what I think is the most important difference: Kefir contains yeasts and a far larger range of bacteria than Yogurt. In addition, Kefir bacteria can colonize the gastrointestinal tract. Yogurt bacteria cannot colonize our GI tract, as they are transient bacteria. That means that they pass through the tract. During their passage, they help keep the digestive tract clean while providing food for the good bacteria found in a healthy gut. Similar to what prebiotics might do.

When you take care of these babies they last forever... On top, you will end up with what some call a super-food with all beneficial culture bacteria for a healthier you! You will receive a full Tablespoon = 3 teaspoons of live/fresh milk kefir grains - not drained or preserved or stored....which is allowed to start new kefir sooner. Mail: These will be mailed via First class mail in a Ziplock bag along with written instructions the next day after payment is received. No returns or refunds because it's food, sorry.
